山百合の花
＜ 家の南正面に咲く山百合。赤いインパチエンスの向こうは全部百合。
庭の左右は画面にないが左右にも百合野が広がる。
The lilies surrounding my southside turf.
Not photoed, but the range of lilies still extends to both sides.
逆光になるので全風景がうまく撮れた写真ががないものですからお粗末で申し訳ありません。＞

ある夏、花数を数えたら、425個のこともあった私の庭の山百合。今年も待っていたその季節が来た。
外へ出ると月明かりのもと、白い百合の幽玄の世界が広がっている。外気は百合の香気でむせかえるばかりに満ちている。
The season of golden-banded lily is here in my garden. It has grown naturally, covering the wide range of my garden with gorgeous flowers from mid-July to the beginning of August. The number of flowers at one time amounted to 425 excluding the ones already bloomed and the buds.
I go out into the garden under the moonlight, and the world of white lilies is there in mysterious profundity. The atmosphere is filled with their rich fragrance. For a moment I lose the sense where I am; am I in a dream or reality. Or is it just a vision?

光環 corona of the sun
学校などが夏休みに入る直前、千葉県舞浜のディズニー・リゾートにいく折があった。誰もが大きな頭の人気者たちの野外ステージショーに熱くなっているとき、ふと空を見上げるとサングラスを通して大きな日輪が頭上に広がっていた。私にはこちらのほうが興味深く、ファインダーディスプレーを見ないようにして、カメラだけを上に向けランダムに撮った。その一枚が掲載したもの。
私は「日輪」ということばでしか知らなかったが「光環」「光冠」ともいうとのこと。

太平洋に生きる
Living Over the Pacific
2006年6月20日コスタリカ沖を船でサンフランシスコに向け北上中見た「ブラウン・ブービー」と呼ばれるカツオドリの仲間の飛翔の姿が忘れられず、絵にした。その忘れがたい感覚は畏敬の念に近いものであったと思う。
My cruise ship was heading northward for San Francisco off the shore of Costa Rica after leaving Acapulco. A number of brown boobies followed our ship. They know well that a ship can frighten fish and they come afloat upward. They are brown beautiful birds with strength and agility.
I stood watching them for ｌong hours on the deck and was seized with awe.

昨年タイで求めたどちらかというと荒削りな木製の仏陀の手。
山と積まれた観光客向けの手の中から時間をかけてこの手を選んだ。とても気に入っていて、蓮の屏風を出すときは必ず近くに配置する。
Ｇａｎｅｓｈさんの美しい蓮のバナーを使わせてもらうにあたり、陽の目をみさせてあげよう、と掲載してみた。
This hand of Budda's was drawn by me out of a basket full of various wooden Budda's hands for tourists' souveir in Thailand last year . Taking a long time, I chose it. It is rather roughly made, I know, but I was and am still charmed by it.
Whenever taking out our folding screen of lotus at this season of the year (lotus flower season), I put the hand somewhere in the same room. Then the atmosphere in the room turns perfect.
The banner of a white lotus flower was photographed and made by my neighbour Ganesh.

静かな庭に出るとギボウシの花の方から妙な音がしてくる。
地の底から湧いて出るような唸り音。
見ると風もないのに揺れている花のひとつひとつに、蜂が全身をもぐりこませて蜜集めに没頭している。
うっかり花でも手折ろうものならきっと手痛い目に合わされるに違いない。
自分のギボウシなのに遠慮しながら距離をおいて眺めている。
Out in my quiet garden, there comes a strange noise from the hosta area.
It is the low humming sound as if welling up from the bottom of the earth.
I see the hosta flowers moving up and down under no wind.
BEES !
Each one of them hides itself deep in a flower and is absorbed in collecting honey.
One careless touch, and I would be crying over a painful sting for the rest of the week.
They are my hostas, but I, somewhat, keep distance from them in a very decent reserved manner.
